• EPA Lead-Safe Certification
Lyon Construction + Design has recently become one of the first Kansas City area firms to be certified by the EPA to conduct residential lead based paint renovation, repair and painting activities for purposes of Section 40 CFR of Toxic Substances Control Act.
The federal regulation requires certification for renovation or repair work that disturbs 6 sq. ft. inside or 20 sq. ft. outside a home where children younger than six years old live or visit regularly. In addition to following specific work practices, contractors must provide homeowners with lead-hazard information pamphlets and be certified through the EPA. Fines of up to $32,500 could result without certification and safe work practices.

Lyon Construction + Design recently concluded a wonderful design effort for a major remodel and addition in the historic Rockhill Neighborhood east of the Nelson Art Gallery, and successfully passed the rigorous KCMO Landmarks Commission requirements for the upgrades on the historic property in Rockhill.
Some of the comments by Land Commission staff included: “thank you for your sensitivity to the historical accuracy” of your efforts and final design, and thank you for working so closely with our staff and Lon Clark.”

Read about the Mitchell family home project in Kansas City Homes & Gardens magazine. The Mitchell family loved their home and suburban neighborhood but needed more space to accommodate the bustle of their large, active family. They wanted to increase their home's utility in ways that balanced aesthetics, personality, and lifestyle preferences. Lyon Construction+Design worked with their architect to create the desired space and amenities at a price within the Mitchell's budget. • National Kitchen & Bath Association
Clay attended the annual strategic planning meeting with 30 fellow board members of the National Kitchen & Bath Association. The meeting focused on strategies for dealing with current industry conditions, and the upcoming National Kitchen and Bath Industry Show and Conference. It is an important opportunity for the organization's 42,000 members to gather, network, and catch up on the important trends affecting the industry. The 2009 KBIS was held in Atlanta April 30-May 2.
Thanks (Lyon Construction+Design)! Your Project Manager did an excellent job. I appreciate the way he stayed on the job until he finished. He is a very well organized man - a real pro!
