Lyon Process
It's all about the process at Lyon Construction+Design. "A plan and a process are critical to achieving a beautiful result for the client," says Clay Lyon. And communication is central to that process. "We ask lots of questions," he says. Lyon considers understanding the client's motivations and desire for the result as the first step in the process.
A respectful attitude toward the client's space and schedule is a component of each succeeding step. "We are neat freaks, absolutely fastidious about how we impact the house, the client, the children, the pets," says Lyon. "We seek to minimize the effect demolition and construction processes have on their lives."
Following the Lyon processes listed on the following pages, we create a plan for design and construction, follow the plan with flexibility built in, complete the project efficiently, and then discuss the result upon the project's conclusion for future improvements.
Communication continues upon each project's completion with a debriefing assessment. Staff and subcontractors discuss what went right or wrong and what steps were taken to correct problems before the client recognized them. The debriefing helps the company improve and learn, according to Lyon. "We have an intense desire to be better and better," he says.
